In March 2008, Tsoknyi Rinpoche began a full worldwide teaching season comprised of 9 week-long retreats, 3 short retreats, 2 public talks, 1 month-long retreat, the enthronement of Urgyen Jigme Rabsel, and the year culminating with 3 months of wangs (empowerments) beginning in December 2008 through March 6, 2009. This list does not include additional teachings and activities Rinpoche was involved with in Malaysia, India, and Nepal. (more…)

After the enthronement of Tulku Urgyen’s Yangsi in November 2008 in Kathmandu, Tsoknyi Rinpoche traveled on to Dehradun in Northern India where he began three months of retreat and empowerments with over 60 other Rinpoches in attendance and many hundreds of monastics and individuals. Tulku Urgyen Yangsi Jigme Rabsel Dawa

After completing his 2008 teaching schedule, Tsoknyi Rinpoche flew to Kathmandu for the enthronement of Tulku Urgyen’s Yangsi (reincarnation), Jigme Rabsel Dawa.

Dzogchen: The Great Perfection

Tsoknyi Rinpoche gave a public talk entitled The Great Perfection: Tibetan Dzogchen Teachings to approximately 350 people at a large Unitarian Church, hosted by Insight Meditation Center and Tara Brach, in Washington, D.C. on October 22nd. Prior to beginning the retreat, Dzogchen: The Great Perfection (October 24 – 30, which was held in Falls Church, Virginia), Rinpoche toured the nation’s capitol for the first time. It was pre-election, and the city was full of the Washington “buzz.” (more…)

Dzogchen: The Great Perfection Retreat


With great warmth and characteristic regional hospitality, Owsley Brown, Robin Burke, and Gray Henry introduced Tsoknyi Rinpoche to both new and old dharma students in the Louisville, Kentucky, area. Rinpoche gave a public talk to approximately 300 individuals at a public talk, followed by a reception. Rinpoche began teaching students at The Nature of Mind retreat the next day. This was Rinpoche’s first retreat in this part of the country. (more…)

a documentary about the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns

In the summer of 2005, Tsoknyi Rinpoche III, accompanied by a handful of western students, traveled to the Nangchen region in Eastern Tibet. The purpose of the trip was to document the lives and assess the needs of the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns—over 2,000 remarkable women who live and practice an ancient yogic tradition in nunneries and hermitages scattered across this remote, mountainous region.

In 2006, the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns Preservation Project released Journey to Nangchen, a 28-minute video record of this extraordinary journey. (more…)
